The winners are in!
Students were challenged to "Be Brief" and use only six words to write a description about their first 30 days at UBalt. More than one hundred entries were submitted to Claudia Diamond, director of academic support, and the 2013-14 teaching scholars chose the following students as this year's winners:
Third place: Stella Park, “Never mind, I'll take the stairs.”
Second place: Esther Grenness, “The glass elevator skipped me! Again!”
First place: Emily Greene, "One-L, can’t wait to be Done-L”
Stella was born and raised in Montgomery County and currently lives in Howard County with her family. She attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated in 2011 with a degree in International Studies. She enjoys photography, hand lettering and typography. She is interested in International Law and would like to pursue an LL.M. after graduation.
Esther received her BA in jurisprudence from UBalt in May 2013. Esther has been with AT&T's federal sales group for seven years, and she works at their Hanover, MD, office in sales operations. Esther lives with her daughter in Columbia, MD. In her spare time, Esther enjoys exploring new hiking trails with her yellow lab, Keller, and her Chihuahua, Cookie.
Emily graduated from Towson University Honors College in 2013 with a B.S. in English. She grew up in Damascus, and although a native Marylander, she loves the Philadelphia Eagles. In her free time she enjoys photography, kayaking, writing, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Dean Weich plans to take the winners to lunch to reward their wit and brevity! Congratulations to Stella, Esther and Emily!
